Art of Fishing

We do all the fishing mostly at night. Using the gillnets, you have to fish at night because the fish can see the nets in the daytime and they just won't swim into them. But at night... they just swim right into the net. They’ll try to swim through, but they’ll only get partway because, as they struggle,. the net slips under the gills. It’s perfect because they can’t escape! In Japan, we have used gillnets for many, many generations. You make a net of the right size to catch the fish you want... the littler fish swim right through and the larger fish turn and swim away. Ah, but pulling those nets into the boat full of fish! They are so heavy!
